I would hate to live in a country where someone's level of medical care is determined by the size of their pocketbook and not the level of their medical need.

I've never had a problem with Canadian healthcare and I've used it often; I've seen 4 members of my family battle cancer through it, and never - not once - did we EVER think about money. Never. We all got the same care as the wealthiest CEO or the poorest street bum. That's how healthcare distribution should be. Equal.

Jul 11, 11:26pm: I was stopped behind a car today. It was a red convertible. It had a personalized license plate. It read:

"K DONOR"

...As in "Kidney Donor"

Someone was advertising the fact they gave up one of their kidneys ON THE BACK OF THEIR GODDAMN CAR?!?

It was the media hype around the death of Anna Nicole Smith that got me. I think she was the least deserving person to ever have the media pay attention to their death. A month! A MONTH of coverage as the War in Iraq raged and thousands more died in Darfur. To say that teen pregnancy is a non-issue that doesn't deserve to be addressed... well that's just a bit of a stretch. Again, I've seen American media do far, far worse...
